first projects

The start of another week of school. I cannot believe that it is only the second week, I feel as though I have been here for at least a month. This feeling is good however. It means that I am back in the groove of things and I am ready to work. My brain has been shut off all summer and now I am ready to challenge myself and create amazing designs.

We have already been assigned two projects. Even though they are both my studio class projects, they are completely different. In my first studio we have to renovate my professor's office building. We have to design it in such a fashion as to create pathways that direct traffic in the right way. What I have enjoyed so far about this project is that the space is real. A couple of my classmates and I actually went to his office and took pictures of it. It was really important to see it because the space, in reality, is a lot smaller than it looks on the floor plan. Also, it was good to see how I moved around in the space and what I could add or subtract from the space to make it more accessible.

The second project, I enjoy even more. In this project we are to create our own office. There are no boundaries when it comes to materials, location, or even the function. The only limitation is the amount of space. To explain further, my office space has a place where I can do my work, relax, meditate and go outside. The space is supposed to define how you as a designer functions. I am looking forward as to how my design will alter as the project progresses.
